February wrapped up another private ayahuasca retreat in Ecuador. This time with my best friend. While the original intention of having her visit wasn’t to have a private ayahuasca retreat, the opportunity presented itself to her, and she dove right in.
It was such an honor to be able to accompany her throughout this experience, and I was able to continue to see just how powerful a private ayahuasca retreat is. One of the unique aspects of the private ayahuasca retreat experience is that my teacher who is both a shaman and a therapist, has the ability to work one-on-one with the participant. An example of this is that at one point during a ceremony, my friend shared with us that she was experiencing pain in her jaw.
My teacher went over and sat with her and used the pain as a starting point to start pulling on a thread that led to my friend recalling a memory from her childhood, and what was likely one of the earliest memories she had of an experience where she experienced fear in a situation with her parents. Revisiting that experience and engaging in therapeutic dialogue allowed her to see a pattern that developed from childhood and how it has been repeating itself since. It gave her the ability to see how she could show up differently now in her relationship with her parents to foster a healthier dynamic. All of this came from observing and sharing that there was a feeling of discomfort in her jaw, and from having the ability to work directly with my teacher in that moment. Something that can only be done during a private Ayahuasca retreat.
At other points throughout the ceremony, my teacher engaged with her in different ways, including using somatic practices, therapies that deal with synchronicity, and more. All with the intention of supporting my friend in fulfilling the intention of each ceremony.
A private ayahuasca retreat is not necessary to be able to walk away with profound healing and transformation, but for those who have the means and the desire to engage in deep inner work, the private and more therapeutic experience is an excellent option. This year, we’re offering four group Ayahuasca retreat options, but if you are feeling called to a private Ayahuasca retreat in Ecuador, they can be planned for a time that works best for you and designed to support you in the fulfillment of the intention you hold for yourself in your heart.
